Position Purpose

Zumiez is looking for a Photo Editor to join our photo studio to help bring our product to life with great photography post-production. The Photo Editor will be responsible for digitally editing product photography from camera to Zumiez.com and other venues such as printed catalog, email, social media, etc., producing high quality images while maintaining a high-volume workflow.

As part of a small, dynamic team, the Photo Editor will be expected to work well in a fast-paced, and rapidly changing environment. The ideal candidate must be very organized, detail-oriented, tenacious yet tactful, a strong problem solver, and able to succeed under pressure. Most of all, this person must be passionate about great photography and the post-production process.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare images from studio camera for website by selecting, retouching, color correcting, clipping, and cropping imagery.
  • Maintain the set standard for image post-production quality and adhere to established guidelines, ensuring that images are consistent and accurate.
  • Able to produce at least 100 images in a day.
  • Accurately name, organize, and archive image files.
  • Uphold daily production deadlines by uploading image files to the image host site at the end of each day.
  • Work with internal business partners to ensure that instructions for editing are completed to specifications for catalog and other special projects.
  • Work with Photo Studio and Production Team to resolve missing images and collaborate on improvements.
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned, by manager or other department leaders.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 1 -2 years' experience in digital photography and video post-production.
  • Proficient in the latest Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom applications.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop must include selection tools, clipping paths, layer masks, clone, and healing tools. Proficiency in Lightroom must include ample understanding of the Develop tab, color correction techniques, and user presets.
  • Comfortable working with a Mac.
  • Basic understanding of photography.
  • Excellent written and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Consistent positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure to meet daily deadlines.
  • Experience in a Digital Asset Management environment a plus.
  • Experience editing video a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Able to tolerate flashing strobe photography lights.
  • Able to sit or stand at a computer terminal for an extended period.
  • Able to analyze and determine accurate color.
