Associate Underwriting Manager, Middle Markets

Zurich is currently looking for a Middle Markets Associate Underwriting Manager to support our Southern California production underwriting team! We are looking for talent to be based out of our Los Angeles office. This leadership role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office on a regular basis to meet with your team. We may also consider having someone working out of our Irvine office location.

In this role you will manage a team of skilled Property & Casualty production Underwriters as well as a book of new and renewal business. You will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships in the Southern California region. This is a critical role in driving an engaging team culture. This role requires a strong technical, staff development and sales execution mindset. This role requires 25% of Travel.

Our industry focus includes (not limited to) Financial Institutions, General Industries, Manufacturing, Technology, and Real Estate. Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office

• Advanced knowledge of line/s of business
• Ability to manage and build rapport with team
• Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• Some supervisory or management experience
• Established Producer relationships
• Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
• Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation
• CPCU
• Advanced knowledge of product lines and insurance industry
• Excellent skills in relationship building
• Strong presentation skills

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. For additional information about our Total Rewards, Click here. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. The starting salary range for this position is $127,400.00 - $208,700.00.
