To become a Botox injector, you must be a registered nurse or a medical doctor. For those interested in becoming a cosmetic nurse, completing an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing and passing the NCLEX-RN to obtain a nursing license is necessary. Additionally, two years of experience as a cosmetic nurse assistant working under the supervision of a cosmetic nurse is required. Optional certifications, such as the Cosmetic Nursing Certification, are available for those interested. As for medical doctors, they must follow the same educational path as other physicians and earn board certification to provide Botox for medical or aesthetic purposes. While most doctors specializing in this treatment are plastic surgeons, dermatologists and neurologists also offer Botox treatments.
