What is absenteeism in the workplace

Regularly staying away from work or school without a valid reason is known as absenteeism. It is a habitual pattern of absence from duty or obligation, and is done without any sort of reasonable excuse. Unlike a planned sabbatical, absenteeism is often unplanned. It is also a sign of poor individual performance and can be a breach of contract between employer and employee, potentially leading to termination of a position.
