What is IHSS?

IHSS is short for In Home Support Services, which is a home care program administered by the state of California. The program has four main components: the Community First Choice Option Program (CFCO), the IHSS Independence Plus Option Program (IPO), the Medi-Cal Personal Care Services Program (PCS), and the Original or Residual IHSS Program (IHSS-R), which all provide personal care services for residents who qualify for Medi-Cal or have particular immigration status. Specific services provided by IHSS include domestic services, protective care and supervision, and transportation services. Access to services is based on patient eligibility.
