Karl and Theo Albrecht are the founders of Aldi, a German grocer company that split into two separate food store chains, Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud, in 1960. Despite being financially and legally separate since 1966, both divisions‘ names may appear as if they were a single enterprise with certain store brands or when negotiating with contractor companies. Aldi has experienced massive expansion over the years, spreading out from Germany to many different European countries and eventually other continents. Today, Aldi operates over 10,000 stores worldwide, with 1600 locations in the United States.
