Apel Steel was founded in 1986 in response to a need for steel manufacturers in the greater Alabama area. The first several years were spent fabricating material for Walmart retail stores. During that time period, Walmart became our "bread and butter" account. Eventually, we began to branch out and supply materials for other client projects. These included Lowe's, Home Depot, Kohl's, Target, Dick's Sporting Goods, shopping centers, Academy Sports, Tanger outlet malls and many more. Today, Apel Steel is a thriving business with national reach providing quality structural steel and finished products to major stores like Office Max, Toys-R-Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, Marshall's and Trader Joe's along with smaller clients building warehouses and custom design-build projects.
