Founded in 1974, the Capital Area Health Consortium (CAHC) is a voluntary association that seeks cooperative ventures among its member hospitals. The Consortium is dedicated to developing and advocating a collaborative institutional health care delivery philosophy which has as its fundamental principal the provisions of quality health services for the community in North Central Connecticut. While you are residents/fellows of the University of Connecticut Schools of Medicine Graduate Medical Education Program and Dental Medicine you will be employees of the Capital Area Health Consortium (CAHC or Consortium). Your appointment letter from the University of Connecticut will outline your academic responsibilities. As an employee of the Consortium, you will be expected to abide by the University of Connecticut policies, privileges and responsibilities. The Consortium is a 501(c) 3 non-profit, seven-hospital member organization responsible for the administration of the salary and benefits for all residency and fellowship training programs. The Consortium works closely with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office to ensure that the pay and benefits are of the highest level and quality.
