Established in 1951. GTAustin, formerly known as The Church of Glad Tidings, consistently receives reports from our guests that they experience the presence of God during their time with us. In 1951, Larry Donahue planted Glad Tidings Assemblies of God in a small house on Northland Dr. The church quickly grew and then built a facility at 2000 Justin Lane. In 1976, Vic Schober became the senior pastor. Under his leadership our congregation grew to over 1000 and purchased its present facilities on Northland Dr, just down the street from the original house. In 2003, after having served as the Associate Pastor for 18 years, Kermit Bell became the Senior Pastor. . In 2012, GTAustin, had planted 6 other congregations in the Greater Austin area and 9 other churches internationally in countries such as: Romania, Honduras, and Guatemala. On October 1, 2017 Pastor Kermit Bell preached his final sermon as the Senior Pastor of GTAustin. He and his wife Cindy Bell currently reside in Waxahachie, TX as the Assistant Superintendents of the North Texas District of the Assemblies of God. Pastor Emeritus Vic Schober is currently giving leadership as the the transition pastor.
