The Book Bin is a locally owned, family operated business that has been in the same family since 1984. Three generations currently spend their time between the Corvallis and Salem stores. Both stores have feline mascots: Tess in Corvallis, the grandmotherly matron of the Book Bin, and Rose in Salem, who is young, frisky, and shares a birthday with H. P. Lovecraft.
