I3 Academy is a tuition-free, public charter school located in the heart of the Woodlawn community of Birmingham, Alabama. Serving kindergarten through fifth grade students, once its doors open, I3 Academy will be the largest charter school in the state with 420 students enrolled.The three Is--imagine, investigate, innovate--are the foundation of our philosophy and guide us toward our mission: to empower learners to become agents of change who solve the problems they see in their world. The curriculum will be STEAM inspired, providing students with ample classroom opportunities for collaboration and invention. Admission to I3 Academy is based on open enrollment with the possibility of a lottery if more students apply than available seats per grade level. Currently, we are accepting applications for the 2020-2021 waitlist in grades kindergarten through third. Seats are available in fourth and fifth grades.
