Mason Warner & Company was founded in 1962 when Jimmie Mason left a local accounting firm and started his own accounting practice. In 1963 he moved to offices at 1708 15th street. The firm started by Jimmie continued to expand at this location. In 1964, J. Reid Warner joined our firm as a staff member. Reid became a partner in 1968. Jimmie Mason retired in 2000 and Reid Warner retired in January of 2007. MWC continued to grow and expand from primarily tax preparation to a full range of accounting services. In 1973 our firm outgrew its location on 15th street and moved to the newly constructed Tower of the Plains Building at 50th and University. This was to be the location of our firm for the next eighteen years. We occupied a small portion of the fourth floor when we first moved to the PNB building. Within a few years the firm had grown to the point where we occupied the entire fourth floor. During the period of time our firm spent in the Tower of the Plains there were many events that increased the expertise and stability of our firm. From 1978 through 1981 our firm employed five new staff accountants, Mark Dickson, Greg Freeman, Pat Harris, Gary Lane, and Greg Moore. Pat Harris retired in May of 2004. The other four accountants remain with MWC as Shareholders. Barbara Gilliam was promoted to the position of shareholder on January 1, 2004 and Tait Crow was added as a shareholder on January 1, 2012. Together they represent the third generation of ownership that will be leading MWC into the future.
