Job Details: The Pharmacy Buyer position is responsible for performing all necessary functions to ensure optimal use of medications to achieve specific outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life as prescribed by law and regulation for New York State and in accordance with the objectives, planning, and directives assigned to the areas of responsibility assigned by the Director of Pharmacy. Duties and responsibilities should be performed in a manner consistent with the system mission and values. RESPONSIBILITIES: •Identifies medications for both inpatient and outpatient dispensing. •Liaisons with suppliers and pharmaceutical representatives to establish contracts and relationships for the pharmacy. •Purchasing medications and supplies through multiple vendors and direct supply from manufacturers utilizing current contracts and 340B. •Status Assists director in proactively managing anticipated medication shortages Communicates medication supply issues intra and interdepartmentally.
