Job Description Job Summary Perform modifications, maintenance and repair of instrumentation and related equipment used in laboratory operations. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: shop supervisors and co-workers, student assistants. This position typically will advise and counsel: student assistants and lower level Instrument Makers. This position will supervise: NA. Responsibilities Job Duty 1 - Operate and maintain machinery (e.g., milling machines, computer controlled mills and lathes, shears and press brakes). Job Duty 2 - Modify, repair and rebuild laboratory equipment in accordance with design specifications. Job Duty 3 - Fabricate and assemble equipment. Job Duty 4 - Instruct students in safe operation of shop equipment. Job Duty 5 - Provide guidance to lower level Instrument Makers. Job Duty 6 - Confer with shop customers (faculty, students, etc.) regarding work requirements. Job Duty 7 - Provide input to design of equipment. Job Duty 8 - Perform other dut

Job Description Job Description Set up and operate various machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. Include precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. Job Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week. Work requirements may include additional hours as the need arises. Employee Expectations: · Ability to run most jobs on shop floors (flexible) · Ability to perform changeovers of similar jobs in a specific cell · Ability to troubleshoot machine problems/error, including basic understanding and editing of G&M code · Ability to perform rework operations when needed · Can identify when tool/work offsets are required and makes these independently. · Keeps work areas clean and maintains tools and area in safe operating condition. · Job dutie
