Larry, a 42 year veteran of the architecture and interior design community, is the principal of No Place Like Home (NPLH). With a BS in Architectural Studies from the U of I, Champaign-Urbana (1979), he was an associate with VOA Associates (1979-1986) and GFID, Ltd (1986-1991) before starting NPLH, INC in 1991. He has been an environmental advocate since high school. What distinguishes NPLH from most other designers or decorators is education, training, and experience in architecture. The most successful design projects are the result of not just a well qualified team and good communication, but a seamless merging of the architectural hardware (structural shell, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting, audio-video, etc.) with the decorative software (furnishings, floor, wall and window coverings, art and accessories, etc.). This is NPLHs strength the ability to work efficiently and creatively in both arenas. Additionally, whether its a studio apartment or a 12,000sf house, from the master plan to the smallest detail, its about NPLH giving its best in the service of each client. A long roster of satisfied clients and the new client referrals they send has sustained NPLH for the past 30 years. NPLH services clients throughout metropolitan Chicago including its north, south, and west suburbs. It also serves the beach and rural communities of northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan. Meetings usually take place in the clients home but can also be held at any retail store or The Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Because NPLH is passionate about and excels at what it does: helping people create that unique place called home regardless of style, personal preferences or budget.
