The Lord's Table has been serving the homeless and needy families of downtown Victorville since 1996. Founded by Dolores Zuniga through the aid of then pastor Rev. Gerardo Mendoza, this soup kitchen opened its doors at St. Joan of Arc Catholic church, serving lunch once a week. Since its humble beginnings nearly 20 years ago, the ministry has continued to grow and has expanded into a well-known organization of the High Desert, now serving meals Monday through Friday to its surrounding community. A typical day consists of volunteers and community members coming together to prepare and serve a hot meal to men and women, young and old, who all have the face of our Lord Jesus Christ. Those who give their time and those who come to eat all share in the blessings and graces of His Table. Over 100 hot meals are served daily in conjunction with emergency food allocations given to the community on a weekly basis. The Lord's Table proudly serves over 500 people per week, many who depend on the food shared as their only sustainable meal of the day. The Lord's Table works in conjunction with community programs, such as the San Bernardino County TAP Employment Service Program, to train personnel on location in basic job skills and team-building exercises. Everyone served at the Lord's Table enjoys the hot meals prepared by cooks who have completed a 3-week Food Preparation program at the Victor Valley College. In addition, all workers are trained to treat the people coming to the Lord's Table with dignity, respect, and hospitality. The Lord's Table also serves as a site where many community members come to do community service hours, in particular the youth from many surrounding schools and extra-curricular programs. The Lord's Table also works with the San Bernardino County Food Bank as monthly "food give-away" distribution site, where low-income residents can come and receive a monthly food bag given by the food bank every third Friday of the month. This program distributes on average two hundred and twenty-five bags of ...

  1. Bookkeeping: Bookkeeping is the recording of financial transactions, and is part of the process of accounting in business. Transactions include purchases, sales, receipts, and payments by an individual person or an organization/corporation. There are several standard methods of bookkeeping, including the single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping systems. While these may be viewed as "real" bookkeeping, any process for recording financial transactions is a bookkeeping process. Bookkeeping is the work of a bookkeeper (or book-keeper), who records the day-to-day financial transactions of a business. They usually write the daybooks (which contain records of sales, purchases, receipts, and payments), and document each financial transaction, whether cash or credit, into the correct daybook—that is, petty cash book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, etc.—and the general ledger. Thereafter, an accountant can create financial reports from the information recorded by the bookkeeper.
  2. Accounting: Creating financial statements and reports based on the summary of financial and business transactions.
  3. Accounts Payable: Accounts payable (AP) is money owed by a business to its suppliers shown as a liability on a company's balance sheet. It is distinct from notes payable liabilities, which are debts created by formal legal instrument documents.
  4. Accounts Receivable: Accounts receivable is a legally enforceable claim for payment held by a business for goods supplied and/or services rendered that customers/clients have ordered but not paid for. These are generally in the form of invoices raised by a business and delivered to the customer for payment within an agreed time frame. Accounts receivable is shown in a balance sheet as an asset. It is one of a series of accounting transactions dealing with the billing of a customer for goods and services that the customer has ordered. These may be distinguished from notes receivable, which are debts created through formal legal instruments called promissory notes.
  5. General Ledger: Creating and keeping track of business transactions and activities to monitor financial operations.
