In June of 2010, the company was split into two entities: Scopia LLC for the tailored tours, which is wholly-owned by Ophir Ben-Yitschak, and Scopia Technologies LLC, which is owned by several shareholders. As mentioned above, the original idea was to create an intermodal trip-planning website which would combine surface and air transportation in one itinerary. This included all forms of ground transportation (private and public), flights, rail, ferries and others. Although between 2005-2007 we were able to create a prototype for a point-to-point intermodal search, we discovered along the way that there's a much bigger world in which we can excel. It's the world of contextual, relevant solutions in travel, tourism and transportation. It is not to say that we have dropped the concept of passenger intermodality but rather, that we today understand things much better than before, including how people plan and book their travel. We know today that it's not as simple as point-to-point. This new world of contextual and relevant information (data) in travel and tourism has proven to be full of opportunities in so many different and exciting directions. As you read this, we already have 2-3 new products being planned. Our business model is very simple: Provide accurate, relevant and contextual information that will allow anyone, anywhere to find what they need quickly and easily. Make a fair profit from products people buy or services advertised. The Google motto "Don't be evil" is one which we admire here at Scopia Technologies.
