Job Summary Residency Program in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. The Salk Institute Animal Resources Department (ARD) has one (1) position open for a Post-Doctoral Fellow/Resident in Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM). The program is designed to prepare veterinarians for a career in LAM. The residency is approved by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and fulfills eligibility requirements for the ACLAM certifying examination. The resident will rotate within the ARD services and gain experience in the medical, surgical, anesthetic, and behavioral management of a variety of laboratory animal models used at the Institute, including, but not limited to, mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, naked mole rats and nonhuman primates. Residents will have the opportunity to spend time at collaborating institutions in San Diego and elsewhere to be exposed to other species.
