Sha'arim provides a unique service by educating Jewish children with special needs (K-12) in their own school environment, thereby facilitating the optimal learning opportunity socially and academically. Essentially, Sha'arim is a school without walls. Our educators are professionally trained in Jewish education as well as in special needs education - allowing us a specialty niche in educating Jewish children with standards of quality that are unmatched in the Twin Cities educational arena. In this role, we provide assessments, referrals, support, education planning and so much more to parents who struggle with the emotional, financial and educational challenges unique to having a child with special needs. We provide beginning of the year goal setting parent meetings for each Sha'arim student, create and facilitate a Sha'arim Education Plan (SEP) for each student, and distribute mid- and end-of-year written reports to school administrators, teachers and parents, as well as insuring that all students are integrated and included with their mainstream classroom and peers as is possible.
