Truly Living Well Center for Natural Urban Agriculture (TLW) is committed to growing food, community and people. Since 2006, TLW has served the Atlanta community by using natural, GMO-free food production as a catalyst to creating jobs, healthier adults and children and building a safe inner city oasis for families and community to gather. Natural urban agriculture is a social design centered on natural food production in the city. This design empowers communities with food self-sufficiency, builds economic capacity, and maintains stewardship over the local environment. TLW and its founder, K. Rashid Nuri, are at the forefront of a new breed of urban farmers who are helping city planners and developers to connect the dots, bringing vital elements together to create the City of the Future. Truly Living Well was founded as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to quality local food production. The objective was to bring nutritionally-rich, fresh-picked produce to local residents through a community supported agriculture program. The work of TLW then expanded to include agricultural education and urban farmer training programs. The work of TLW builds a local sustainable food system. Truly Living Well demonstrates the viability of producing high quality, naturally grown fruits and vegetables in the urban environment. Our four farm sites in Metro Atlanta produce Certified Naturally Grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and other added-value products. Our model establishes the transformative power of urban agriculture. Truly Living Well demonstrates the potential of a renewed paradigm - the local food economy. Our staff has grown from two to nearly 40. In addition, hundreds have been trained by TLW in urban agriculture practices. More than 4,000 people visit TLW annually. We host educational programs that involve young people of all ages. Partnerships and collaborations with area colleges, universities, school systems and other organizations provide opportunities for everyone to connect with the land.
