ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The painter uses hand tools, power tools, sanders, paint spraying equipment, media blast equipment, and respirators. They remove old paint from aircraft using liquid paint remover and scrapers or media blast equipment. They prepare surfaces using chemicals and abrasives. Aircraft Painters mask and cover surfaces that are not painted, and may use stencils to paint insignia, letters or numbers on aircraft surfaces. The Painter may read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, painting equipment service manuals, technical data, and other specifications to perform their job.
