Requirements and Responsibilities

Actuarial Services Senior Manager manages actuarial activities and staff to deliver pricing, reserving, and risk analyses that support business and regulatory objectives. Directs the development and maintenance of actuarial models, assumptions, and methodologies across assigned lines of business. Being an Actuarial Services Senior Manager reviews and approves actuarial analyses, rate filings, and reserve estimates. Leads the professional development, performance management, and training of actuarial staff. Additionally, Actuarial Services Senior Manager partners with underwriting, finance, and product leadership to inform strategy and pricing decisions. Ensures actuarial work complies with regulatory standards and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a director. The Actuarial Services Senior Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Actuarial Services Senior Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
