Requirements and Responsibilities

CDI Specialist is responsible for ensuring that medical records accurately and thoroughly reflect the care provided to patients. Focuses on improving the quality, clarity, and completeness of clinical documentation. Being a CDI Specialist works closely with clinicians to ensure that diagnoses, procedures, and treatments are documented correctly. Acts as a liaison between clinical staff, coding teams, billing, and care coordination teams to support comprehensive and compliant documentation. Additionally, CDI Specialist requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The CDI Specialist work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a CDI Specialist typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.
