Requirements and Responsibilities

Claims Supervisor I supervises activities in the claims department to ensure efficient and accurate handling of assigned claims. Assigns and monitors caseloads to balance workload and meet established service and quality standards. Being a Claims Supervisor I reviews claims decisions, reserves, and settlements to verify accuracy and adherence to authority limits. Provides coaching, training, and day-to-day technical guidance to support staff development and performance. Additionally, Claims Supervisor I resolves escalated claims issues and complex inquiries from claimants, policyholders, and providers. Ensures compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and documentation standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Claims Supervisor I supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be a Claims Supervisor I typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
