Requirements and Responsibilities

Cooking Assistant prepares and cooks meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, vegetables and other foods according to proper preparations methods. May be responsible for cleaning, maintenance of kitchen area and cooking equipment, collecting garbage and grocery item inventory. Being a Cooking Assistant may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Cooking Assistant gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. To be a Cooking Assistant typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
