Requirements and Responsibilities

Food Safety Supervisor supervises and coordinates daily food safety operations to ensure compliance with food safety standards, policies, and regulations. Oversees sanitation programs, product testing, and inspection schedules to maintain product integrity and prevent contamination. Being a Food Safety Supervisor trains and mentors staff on food safety and quality assurance protocols and safe handling procedures. Investigates food safety incidents and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Additionally, Food Safety Supervisor collaborates with other departments, such as production and quality assurance, to maintain a safe and compliant facility environment. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). Typically reports to a manager. The Food Safety Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Food Safety Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
