Requirements and Responsibilities

Managed Care Pharmacy Consultant is responsible for delivering high-quality pharmacy consulting services within the managed care environment. Develops and implements customized clinical strategies aligned with each client's pharmacy benefit goals, population health priorities, and cost management objectives. Being a Managed Care Pharmacy Consultant applies expertise in formulary management, drug utilization, and clinical strategy to help clients optimize their pharmacy benefit programs and ensure client and member satisfaction. May require a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Additionally, Managed Care Pharmacy Consultant may require Registered Pharmacist (RPh). Typically reports to a manager. The Managed Care Pharmacy Consultant occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Managed Care Pharmacy Consultant typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.
