Requirements and Responsibilities

Managed Care Pharmacy Director is responsible for directing and overseeing medication utilization, formulary management, and ensuring cost-effective services for a network of managed care pharmacies. Monitors and analyzes pharmacy utilization trends and identifies opportunities for cost savings and improved patient outcomes. Being a Managed Care Pharmacy Director collaborates with healthcare stakeholders to implement and improve pharmacy benefit programs. Responsible for designing reimbursement processes and procedures. Additionally, Managed Care Pharmacy Director typically requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy. May require applicable license and/or certification. Typically reports to senior management. The Managed Care Pharmacy Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Managed Care Pharmacy Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
