Requirements and Responsibilities

Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing medication utilization, formulary management, and ensuring cost-effective services for a network of managed care pharmacies. Monitors and analyzes pharmacy utilization trends and identifies opportunities for cost savings and improved patient outcomes. Being a Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager collaborates with healthcare stakeholders to implement and improve pharmacy benefit programs. May also be responsible for designing reimbursement processes and procedures. Additionally, Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager may require a doctorate degree in pharmacy. May require applicable license and/or certification. Typically reports to a director. The Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
