Medical Records Director directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for a medical records department in support of hospital strategic objectives and program planning. Ensures that all health information management practices comply with JCAHO and other applicable standards. Being a Medical Records Director oversees budgeting, quality improvement and staff hiring, evaluation and supervision. Develops systems and procedures to provide data for internal analysis and external reporting. Additionally, Medical Records Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management.
