Requirements and Responsibilities

Medical Staff Credentialing Director directs the team responsible for processing credentialing and recredentialing applications for providers within a health care network. Responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Being a Medical Staff Credentialing Director monitors the reviewing and verification of credentialing applications. May resolve complex questions regarding credentialing, database maintenance, and best practices. Additionally, Medical Staff Credentialing Director provides regulatory oversight and guidance to the credentialing process. Maintains working knowledge and ensures continuing compliance with state, federal, and institutional standards and guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Staff Credentialing Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Medical Staff Credentialing Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
