Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor supervises a team of metallurgical engineers. Designs and initiates processes for the manufacturing of metals from ores and for the operation of the related production equipment. Being a Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor reviews analysis and test results, and provides technical assistance and recommendations as needed. Determines resources needed and obtains technical support to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor investigates and resolves metallurgical issues to improve process efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Metallurgical Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
