Requirements and Responsibilities

Non-Profit Lobbyist advocates on behalf of a non-profit organization before legislators and government agencies to advance its mission, programs, and public policy goals. Monitors legislation, funding decisions, and regulatory changes affecting the organization and the communities it serves. Being a Non-Profit Lobbyist develops advocacy campaigns, testimony, and policy positions to promote the organization's objectives. Cultivates relationships with elected officials, coalitions, and community partners to build support for shared causes. Additionally, Non-Profit Lobbyist educates internal leadership, members, and the public on legislative issues and calls to action. Ensures lobbying activities comply with disclosure requirements and non-profit regulations governing advocacy. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Non-Profit Lobbyist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Non-Profit Lobbyist typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.
