Requirements and Responsibilities

Patient Accounts Manager manages the administration of patient accounts and ensures record keeping practices comply with industry regulations and operational standards. Oversees all financial transactions related to a patient's healthcare services. Being a Patient Accounts Manager applies policies and controls to ensure accurate records, efficient workflow, and compliance with all regulatory standards and internal procedures. Implements processes and procedures to identify insurance coverage, make adjustments, submit claims, and update patient accounts. Additionally, Patient Accounts Manager coordinates with insurance companies to resolve complex payment issues, coverage questions, or patient inquiries. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Patient Accounts Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Patient Accounts Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
