Requirements and Responsibilities

Physician - Geriatrics specializes in the healthcare needs of older adults, focusing on diagnosing, treating, and preventing age-related health problems. May treat disorders that arise due to aging such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Being a Physician - Geriatrics requests necessary tests, follow-up visits, and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Additionally, Physician - Geriatrics requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a medical director. Physician - Geriatrics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
