Requirements and Responsibilities

Refrigeration Mechanic II installs, maintains, and repairs refrigeration systems and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues in commercial, industrial, or residential refrigeration units using testing tools and technical schematics. Being a Refrigeration Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, component replacement, refrigerant checks, and system calibration. Documents and records service activities. Additionally, Refrigeration Mechanic II ensures compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and proper handling of refrigerants in accordance with applicable codes. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires HVAC/R and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Refrigeration Mechanic II works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Refrigeration Mechanic II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
