Requirements and Responsibilities

Dialysis Patient Care Technician under the supervision of a registered nurse, performs required monitoring and duties during patient dialysis treatment. Prepares machine and solutions according to protocol. Being a Dialysis Patient Care Technician monitors patient before, during, and after treatment. Administers prescribed treatment according to physician and nursing orders. Additionally, Dialysis Patient Care Technician documents all treatment details as required. Ensures patient safety and comfort during treatment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and may require the Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) or be required to be working towards the certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse. The Dialysis Patient Care Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Dialysis Patient Care Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
