Requirements and Responsibilities

Underwriting Director - P&C directs the team responsible for reviewing and analyzing property and casualty (P&C) insurance applications. Monitors the evaluation and analysis of inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, and additional information to accept, decline, or renew an application. Being an Underwriting Director - P&C develops and implements guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Provides assistance on more complex applications. Additionally, Underwriting Director - P&C ensures compliance with all industry and governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to senior management. The Underwriting Director - P&C manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Underwriting Director - P&C typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
