Vendor Relations Manager oversees strategic vendor management programs to create collaborative supplier relationships that control costs, manage risks, and support compliance with standards and requirements. Develops and sustains relationships with critical vendors by communicating and conducting regular reviews of status and issues. Being a Vendor Relations Manager enables suppliers' understanding of the business's requirements, needs, and service expectations by providing a solid foundation of information and resources. Defines the escalation paths and methods to use to resolve problems. Additionally, Vendor Relations Manager provides clear and actionable feedback to encourage cooperation and drive continuous improvement in vendor performance. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Vendor Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Vendor Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
