VP of Community Development leads and plans all aspects of an organization's economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a VP of Community Development evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Additionally, VP of Community Development makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. May require a master's degree. Typically reports to top management. The VP of Community Development manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a VP of Community Development typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.
