Requirements and Responsibilities

Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner examines and manages workers' compensation claims to determine compensability, benefits, and appropriate claim resolution under applicable statutes. Investigates injury reports, medical records, and wage information to evaluate eligibility and exposure. Being a Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner determines and authorizes indemnity and medical benefits in accordance with state workers' compensation laws. Coordinates with medical providers, attorneys, and employers to manage treatment, return-to-work, and litigation activities. Additionally, Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner establishes and maintains accurate reserves and documents all claim activity in the system. Ensures compliance with jurisdictional regulations, reporting requirements, and company guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.
