    Summary:

    At Friedman’s Home Improvement, we strive to deliver the Human Side of Home Improvement.  The Outside Contractor Sales Account Representative positions are responsible for developing and growing assigned customer account sales. Development and growth will come from partnering with assigned customers to gauge their immediate and future needs, upcoming customer challenges, forecasted customer business as well as communication around industry trends, information, and market conditions. Team Members in this role have an extensive breadth and depth of industry, product, customer, and Friedman’s process knowledge. These roles will also be responsible for partnering with, as well as coaching and mentoring the Inside Contractor Sales roles. The Outside Contractor Sales Account Representatives are expected to spend most of their time visiting customer jobsites/offices on a routine and scheduled basis with office work and hours as needed. This role will be supported by Inside Contractor Sales I/II roles for multiple tasks including data entry (sales orders, sales quotes, purchase orders), product pricing and availability research for special orders as well as all order maintenance related activities.

     

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Partner with assigned customers to help them grow their business through regular communication and planning
    • Regularly meet with assigned customers to determine and assess future opportunities and challenges they may experience
    • Help assigned customers coordinate job and project schedules and timelines as well as internal coordination of jobs and projects through additional Pro and Design departments (Millwork, Kitchen/Bath Design)
    • Recommend and sell products best suited to customer needs and job requirements
    • Prepare, coordinate, and communicate sales quotations and sales orders to customers/contractors
    • Work in partnership with Credit department and assigned customers to ensure all assigned customer accounts are in good credit standing
    • Routinely identify high potential existing Friedman’s customers as well as non-Friedman’s customers which may qualify for account representation
    • Partner with Pro & Design ASM and Pro & Design/Yard Support Manager to assist with customer issue resolutions as needed
    • Keep current with competitor prices, products, and other market related information and communicate gaps with the Pro & Design/Yard Support Manager and Pro & Design Strategy and Solutions Manager
    • Responsible for the management and maintenance of open quotes, sales orders and purchase orders
    • Process quotes, orders, and returns received via phone, fax, email and direct from customers
    • Maintain regular and dependable attendance and punctuality
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Education/Experience:

    • High School Diploma or GED, training or education in construction management basic skills preferred
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Contractor Sales Department or equivalent Pro Sales experience preferred 
    • Prior outside sales experience or direct customer account sales experience preferred
    • A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required qualifications and skills is acceptable

     

    Knowledge, Skills:

    • Ability to perform selling, purchasing and lookup functions on Company computer systems such as: Account/Order/PO Lookup, Quote/Order/Purchase Order entry, Returns, Quote Conversion and price recalculation, Partial Invoicing, Product lookup using keywords and/or alternate SKUs
    • Ability to determine Credit processes such as: when to offer an account application, what type of account, Prelims, Farm Tax Exemption, Resale, what items may not be purchased on a job account, Check guarantee and Check card approval
    • Familiarity with Contractor pricing language, affiliation pricing, bids/quotes, issuing discount (their level of authorization & others)
    • Expert working knowledge of Lumber, Building Materials, Hardware, EWP, Millwork and Friedman’s processes and services as well as the ability to communicate about these subjects in terms Pro’s use
    • Demonstrated ability to provide professional communication verbally and written
    • High level of integrity
    • Self-motivated and the desire and ability to exceed measurable performance goals
    • High level of attention to detail
    • Strong planning and problem-solving abilities
    • Positive attitude
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and be proactive
    • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record

    This is a non-exempt position located at Friedman’s Home Improvement Sonoma, CA retail store. Hours are retail need based from Sunday – Saturday.
