Actuarial Fellow utilizes statistical analysis and modeling to assess and manage risk and estimate financial outcomes. Compiles, prepares, and analyzes data to develop statistical models, probability tables, and actuarial studies and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Being an Actuarial Fellow assists with product design and development by analyzing risk groups and calculating appropriate insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Records and tracks accruals, claims, and settlements and prepares documents for input into regulatory filings, financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Additionally, Actuarial Fellow applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a manager. To be an Actuarial Fellow typically requires 12+ years of related experience. Achievement and depth of knowledge of specialization or field is the main differentiator. Advisory role on complex and challenging projects and initiatives.   • Pacific Guardian Life is seeking a highly qualified and results driven individual to fill an Actuarial Assistant position in our Honolulu Office.

    An Actuarial Assistant is responsible for providing assistance in the construction, review and evaluation of various components of the Company’s financial statements, maintenance and improvement of the Company’s financial model, performance of various experience analysis studies and various valuation-related tasks, under minimal supervision.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
    • A demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of a professional actuarial designation. Completion of two or more of the examinations required to attain Associateship in the Society of Actuaries is desirable, but not required. Actuarial Student Program is available after successful completion of two actuarial exams.
    • Proven ability to work under minimal supervision and direction.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a high degree of judgment, especially when working with information that is confidential in nature.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to clearly communicate actuarial information to the general public and personnel at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to react to change productively.
    • Good organizational skills and attentiveness to detail.
    • Ability to operate technology solutions.

    Salary: $47,000 – $52,000
