Summary

Kent Power is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team as the company takes steps toward creating a world-class accounting department. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for month-end prep and reporting, state compliance, and supporting the accounting team with daily tasks. 

Essential Functions

• Assist with the daily operations of the accounting department
• Prepare and review various financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
• Credit card reconciliations and reporting
• Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger analysis
• Assist with union payroll entry and reporting requirements
• Assist with audit requests, including annual financial statement audits, payroll audits, bank audits, and sales/use tax audits
• Various state compliance requirements
• Sales and Use Tax Filings
• Assist other family-owned entities as needed
• Respond to all internal and external requests in a timely manner
• Provides exceptional and accurate internal and external customer service
• Other projects or tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Associate degree
• Two years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years of related experience
• Proven working experience as an Accounting Supervisor/Manager or Assistant Controller
