    Job Description:


    We are looking for a Translator who will be responsible for providing translation services from an at-home office in the US for a Federal Government Agency. Prior training and experience working as a translator are necessary to provide accurate and complete translation. The translators may also need to pass an assessment test and conduct themselves according to Accent's ethical and professional guidelines. Successful Independent Contractor Translators will be expected to perform accurate and clear translation, communicate and convey ideas effectively, and provide excellent customer service. Translators must also:- Provide the highest level of quality, accuracy, completeness, and customer service


    • Meet all of the translator quality standards outlined by Accent on Languages and professional associations
    • Have a continual learning mindset; continue to expand professional knowledge and vocabulary to improve service to our customers
    • Take feedback well; receive and respond to feedback in a timely and effective manner
    • Complete all the required training, mentorship, and coaching
    • Keep all translation and related information strictly confidential


    Important Requirements:


    • Be 18 years old or older
    • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign national who has been lawfully admitted for permanent residence
    • You must pass a clearance process by filling out all the required paperwork and conduct all screening in a timely manner. However, if you have a current government clearance, that is preferred.
    • You must strictly adhere to the translator's code of ethics created by Accent on Languages as well as industry professional associations.
    • You must stay loyal to the source language, perform accurate and complete translation without ever providing counseling or personal opinions.
    • You must adhere to confidentiality and never disclose any information that you translate
    • Be certified by the American Translators Association, or studies in translation, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, or recognized certificate program.


    Qualifications:


    • Have a minimum of one year of experience in foreign language Translation
    • Be certified by the American Translators Association, or studies in translation, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, or recognized certificate program
    • Have demonstrated proficiency in English and the target language as demonstrated through testing. Language proficiency testing in the target language(s) and English is required for all levels of linguists in the four basic communications
      skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
    • Documented completion of a language proficiency interview/assessment preferred for languages of lesser diffusion
    • Current or previous government clearance preferred
    • Experience in and familiarity with the government space strongly preferred
    • A high school diploma, GED or equivalent; a four-year college degree preferred
