Audiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats a variety of hearing, balance, and ear disorders. Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as air and bone conduction, speech reception, and discrimination tests to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage, and effects on comprehension and speech. Being an Audiologist evaluates test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational, and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, and other professionals. Reviews charts, test results, and other patient data to understand issues and develop treatment programs to alleviate symptoms and treat disorders. Additionally, Audiologist monitors and evaluates treatment progress and adjusts care plan as necessary. Programs, fits, and adjusts hearing aids for customers. May require Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) in some states. Requires a master's degree in audiology. Typically requires Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A). Requires State License based on Clinical Specialty. Typically reports to a manager. Audiologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.   • Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Audiologist. The appointee will report directly to the Coordinator for The Regional Day School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and will be responsible for providing direct and ancillary diagnostic audiological services (including habilitation) to hearing-impaired students. The audiologist will work closely with Child Find and the Director of Nursing to assist in screening and identification of students with hearing loss. The person will work closely with the special education support staff, campus administrators, parents, and other district personnel.

    Qualifications: The Audiologist will have at least a master's degree in Audiology, along with a Texas State License and Certification of Clinical Competence in Audiology and a Texas State Hearing Aid License.

    Preference will be given to applicants who:

    • have teaching or related experience in working with hearing-impaired students
    • exhibit the ability to provide audiological evaluations for diagnostic purposes
    • display an understanding of sign language skills
    • are able to coordinate and oversee the school-age hearing screening program as mandated by the Texas Department of Health
    • demonstrate expertise necessary to serve as a resource for students, parents, and school personnel regarding hearing, hearing loss, and hearing protection
    • have an in-depth understanding of state rules, federal regulations, and policies concerning special education as they apply to the hearing impaired
    • possess excellent communication (verbal and written), public relation, and interpersonal skills
    • possess knowledge of and proficiency in using technology to facilitate administrative duties and responsibilities
    • exhibit the ability to evaluate equipment (audiometers, impedance bridges, assistive listening devices, etc.) and make recommendations regarding purchase and repair

    Salary: Pay Range: Counselor/Diagnostician Scale $66,871 - $87,277, depending on experience);
    196 day contract
