Certified Nurse Midwife provides professional care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs. Assists patients in labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. Being a Certified Nurse Midwife ensures safety and health of mother and child and identifies need for additional care. Works in conjunction with a practicing physician. Additionally, Certified Nurse Midwife requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Certified as Nurse Midwife. Requires Registered Nurse. Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Certified Nurse Midwife's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Performs the clinical management of patients in their related specialty area following established guidelines.

    Orders/performs therapeutic/diagnostic studies/procedures as assigned and demonstrated through competency.

    Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care.

    Disseminates pertinent information to assigned patients/staff/healthcare providers gathered from research, special projects or committee involvement related to their role or specialty area.

    Performs physical exams, collects and documents data

    Orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations

    Prescribes appropriate interventions and medications

    Contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.

    Accountable for preparing patients for Labor and Delivery Unit for care (hospital coverage is NOT required for this position).

    Assist in the response to any emergency that may arise.

    This position requires initial assessment and stabilization.

    Monitor and examine women during pregnancy.

    Develop, assess, and evaluate individual care.

    Arrange and provide parenting and health education.

    Provide counseling and advice before and after screening and tests.

    Offer support and advice on all areas of pregnancy as well as the daily care of the baby and parent.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    Ability to function effectively as a team member and facilitate completion of tasks.

    Experience in FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) industry preferred

    Requires strong organizational, problem- solving, and analytical skills.

    Must be computer literate in accounting software Excel, Word and Outlook.

    Able to exercise sound judgment and discretion in managing patient and employee issues.

    Requirements:
    Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program

    Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina and approval to practice as a CNM.

    Master's degree is required, Life support, X BLS, X NRP
