    Responsibilities

    Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, the Charge Capture Analyst is responsible for supporting the billing process in Surgical Services. The Charge Capture Analyst audits concurrent and retrospective patient records to ensure proper charging of services for compliance and proper reimbursement of claims. The Charge Capture Analyst provides information and education (act as resource) for clinical departments in maintaining appropriate charging patterns.

    Essential Functions:
    • Audit patient medical records and other source documents charges to ensure completeness and accuracy of charges on patient bill. (50%)
    • Assist in educating departments on charging and documentation issues. (10%)
    • Work as a liaison between PFS, medical record/coding and ancillary departments to expedite resolution of edits. (10%)
    • Assist in identifying process breakdown between departments in the transfer of charge codes. (10%)
    • Integrate performance improvement principles into all aspects of job responsibilities. (5%)
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Associate's degree required.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology required.

    PREFERRED:
    • Bachelor's degree.
    • MEDITECH experience.
    • Over 2 years of experience in coding, billing or charge auditing.
