Cytotechnologist examines cells of the cytoplasm and nucleus to determine pathological conditions. Separates sediment and cells from blood serum and categorizes slides and records classification. Being a Cytotechnologist receives and prepares specimens for analysis. Detects abnormalities and communicates to pathologist to arrive at a final diagnosis and report. Additionally, Cytotechnologist requires a bachelor's degree. Requires graduation from an approved school of cytotechnology and American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or I.C.A. registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Cytotechnologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Perform moderate and high complexity testing. Analyze, review, and report test results and quality control results and takes remedial action when indicated; ensure specimen integrity by adhering to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing; adhere to departmental policies and procedures to include departmental programs, quality control, quality assurance, and safety.

2-3 years of experience preferred BUT not required .
Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions
Assists with development and resolves problems and documents corrective actions
Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate
Payrate:
$50-55/hour
Schedule:
M-F 8am to 4:30pm (Can be flexible to a 7am start time as well)
