Endoscopy Technician performs various direct patient care activities in the endoscopy unit under the supervision of a physician. Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly. Being an Endoscopy Technician may assist with medical procedures. Typically requires an associate degree. Additionally, Endoscopy Technician typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Endoscopy Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Education
Required:
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing anesthesia
Licensing/Registration/Certification
Required:
· RN license to practice in Nebraska
· CRNA certification to practice in Nebraska
· Certification in ACLS and BCLS
Experience
Required:
· One year of CRNA experience.
· Must be self-directed, with demonstrated ability to acquire skills necessary to enhance job performance.
Preferred:
· Experience in ambulatory surgery environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Communication
· Communicate relevant information to managers, supervisors, physicians and co-workers to maintain continuity of operations.

Duties and Tasks
· Observe and adhere to facility specific policies and procedures.
· Observe and adhere to CMS accreditation standards.
· Elicit and record pertinent medical history.
· Documents care and services provided in a legible, accurate, and through manner.
· Proper identification of patients is consistently demonstrated.
· Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation, including:
o Anesthesia equipment and supplies are prepared appropriately for procedures
o Patient pre-anesthetic assessment is performed prior to procedure
o Procedural consent is verified prior to each procedure
o Patient specific anesthesia plan of care is formulated from pre-surgical assessment and is reviewed with attending physician when needed
· Formulates a patient specific plan for anesthesia care, including:
o Appropriate non-invasive and invasive monitoring devices for continuous evaluation of the patient’s physical status are selected, applied and/or inserted
o Anesthetics, adjuvant and accessory drugs and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic are selected, obtained and administered
· Implements, monitors and adjusts patient’s physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient needs. Including:
o Airway, oxygenation and pulmonary status are continuously monitored
o Cardiovascular status is continuously monitored
o Emergence and recovery from anesthesia is facilitated
· Transfers the responsibility of care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety. Including:
o Report and complete documentation is provided upon transfer of the patient from intra-operative to post-operative care provider
o The patient is discharged from anesthesia care and provided with post-anesthesia follow-up, evaluation and care
· Participates in additional areas of responsibility, which are within the expertise of the individual CRNA.
o Participation in administration and/or management of scheduling, material and supplies, billing and data management, development of policies and procedures is provided as needed
o Participation in the quality assessment process by collecting data, reporting trends/compliance, problem focused studies and process oversight is provided as needed
